This Ramadan, ‘alhamdulillah,
we were able to provide daily ‘iftar
(breaking of the fast) at the Islamic Study Center (zawiyyah)
in Charlottesville, Virginia for the first twenty days of the month.
Those attending the ‘iftars
at the Center filled it every night, and after Salatu-l-‘Isha’a
performed the Salatu-l-Qiyyam.
Additionally, on the odd numbered nights, the whole jama’at
prayed four rak’at of Salatu-l-Tasbih.
In the second weekend of Ramadan, Shaykh Nooruddeen went to the Farm of
Peace where he taught with Shaykh Muhammad al-Jamal from al-Quds
al-Sharif in Occupied Palestine and then, during the last ten days of
ramadan, Shaykh Nooruddeen went to the the Shadhuli Sufi Center in
California to perform ‘itikaf
at the masjid there and continued his teaching with Shaykh Muhammad
al-Jamal. This is the fifth year he has been invited by Shaykh Muhammad
to be the guest teacher at the Shahduli Center.
In California there were hour-long Ramadan Readings of Qur’an
every morning after Salatu-l-Fajr
and practice exercises of readings of the Juz Amma
after Dhuhr
prayers.
Shaykh Nooruddeen also gave a lecture (dars) every day prior to the
Salatu-l-Dhuhr. You can find these on this site as downloadable mp-3
files. The subject of this year’s Ramadan Teachings was
“al-Bay'ah
- Keeping the Promise”, and it was
approached through tracing the history which has led the Muslims to our
current situation – and where our personal responsibility
lies now. Click

In the evening Shaykh Muhammad led the
Salatu-l-Taraweeh
and Shaykh Nooruddeen continued to lead the Salatu-l-Tasbih
on the odd-numbered nights.
On the last day of Ramadan Shaykh Noorudden flew from California to
Virginia where he led the ‘Eid prayers and gave the ‘Eid Khutbahunder
the auspices of the North American Islamic Foundation in Herndon,
Virginia.
This Eid Khutbah can also be found on this site under the section
“Khutbahs and Sohbet”.
"When the help of Allah comes and the Opening, and you see
people entering the religion of Allah in multitudes,
then hymn the
praises of your Lord and seek His forgiveness. Truly He is ever
accepting of repentance." (Q 110:01-03)
"It is He Who has sent down tranquility (as-sakina) into the
heart
of the believers so that they may add faith to their faith. To Allah
belong the forces of the heavens and the hearth and Allah is Knowing -
Wise." (Q 48:4)
